Using Teal's Job Search

In this article, we'll cover how to use Teal's Job Search to find opportunities and set up alerts so new jobs come directly to you.

The Challenge: Finding the Right Opportunities Fast

Job searching can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. With thousands of new positions posted daily across countless job boards, it's easy to miss opportunities that match your skills—or worse, apply too late to jobs that have already filled their interview pipeline.

Many job seekers also fall into a common trap: they search only for familiar job titles, not realizing that companies name similar roles differently. That "Senior Marketing Manager" position you're qualified for might be listed as "Digital Campaign Manager" or "Growth Marketing Lead" at another company.

Why Speed and Discovery Matter

When a job gets posted, recruiters start reviewing applications and scheduling interviews quickly. If they receive a hundred applicants in the first 48 hours, they'll often begin conversations with that initial batch before looking at later submissions. Being in that first wave of applicants significantly improves your chances of getting noticed.

At the same time, limiting yourself to a few job titles means you're competing in a smaller pool while potentially missing roles where you'd be a strong fit. The job seekers who succeed are the ones who cast a strategic net—finding opportunities others overlook and applying while positions are still fresh.

How Teal's Job Search Helps

Teal's Job Search is designed to solve both problems: helping you discover more relevant opportunities and ensuring you hear about them quickly. With access to millions of job listings sourced directly from company applicant tracking systems (ATS), you get fresher, more accurate listings than traditional job board aggregators.

Discover Opportunities Beyond Job Titles

Instead of searching only by title, try searching by the skills and tools you use—like "HubSpot" and "paid media" or "Python" and "data analysis."

This keyword-based approach helps you:

  • Discover job titles you might not have considered

  • Find roles that match your actual capabilities

  • Understand how different companies describe similar positions

For example, searching by specific skills might surface titles like "Digital Campaign Manager" or "Regional Marketing Manager"—positions you're qualified for but wouldn't have thought to search.

Narrow Your Search with Filters

Once you've found a promising search approach, use filters to focus on the opportunities that matter most. Click All Filters to access options including:

  • Date Posted: Focus on recent listings

  • Workplace Type: Filter by onsite, hybrid, or remote positions

  • Salary: Only show jobs that include compensation information

  • Experience Level: Set minimum and maximum years of experience

  • Job Type: Full-time, part-time, contract, etc.

  • Keywords: Add specific skills or tools

  • Companies: Search for opportunities at specific organizations

  • Industry, Company Size, and Funding Stage: Target companies that match your preferences

Pro tip: Turn on the salary filter to see only jobs that disclose compensation. This helps you understand market rates and set realistic expectations.

Never Miss an Opportunity with Saved Searches and Alerts

This is where Teal helps you stay ahead. Once you've configured a search that matches your criteria, save it and set up alerts so new opportunities come directly to you.

To save a search:

  1. Configure your search with your desired filters

  2. Click the Save Search button (this changes to Update Search if you have an already existing saved search with the selected filters)

  3. Give your saved search a descriptive name or use the auto-filled title

  4. Set up alerts to get notified of new matches!

  5. Choose from the "Saved Search" dropdown anytime you want to pull up a saved search

Choose Your Alert Frequency

When you save a search, you can choose how you want to be notified:

  • Instant alerts: Get notified as soon as Teal finds a matching job (jobs are ingested almost hourly)

  • Daily digest: Receive a summary of new matches once per day

We recommend setting up multiple granular alerts—create separate saved searches for different role variations, target companies, or criteria. This gives you control over the frequency and relevance of notifications.

Build a Consistent Routine

The most successful job seekers treat their search like a system, not a one-time effort:

  • Check your saved searches regularly

  • Review jobs that come through your alerts

  • Bookmark jobs that interest you for further review

  • Apply to your top choices quickly, then follow up with networking

With tens of thousands of new positions posted daily, maintaining a regular cadence ensures you don't miss opportunities—and that you're applying while jobs are still fresh.
