Access Your Notes in Your Job Tracker

Begin by opening the Job Tracker that is to the left of your screen.

Choose the Job to Update

Within the Job Tracker interface, select the specific job entry that you intend to update or add notes to.

Locate and Click on the Notes Icon

Look for the notes icon—it is represented by a notepad—and click on it.

Open the Notes Panel

Upon clicking the Notes icon, a dedicated notes panel or window will appear to the right of your screen. You can jot down essential information here, and all changes will be automatically saved.

Document Important Details

Utilize the Notes section to document key information related to the selected job.

  • Record the dates of your interactions with hiring managers, employees, or recruiters.

  • Log the dates of any emails you receive regarding potential interviews.

  • Include specific notes or questions you may want to address with a recruiter.

  • Chronicle your impressions of how the interview went and jot down any questions you have for future interviews.

Organize Your Notes

If you're adding a lot of notes for a particular role, all of that text can become difficult to read and sort through. Leverage our text editor to emphasize important details and organize your notes!

Add Headings

You can categorize your notes under different headings to make it easier to find information on certain points of progress with a particular role.

Bold, Italicize, and Underline Text

You can further emphasize content within your notes by bolding, italicizing, or underlining text – you can even do a mix of two or all three! Highlight the details you'd like to emphasize and select from the following icons:

  • "B" - Bold

  • Slanted "I" - Italicize

  • "U" with a line underneath it - Underline

Create Bulleted or Numbered Lists

Looking to separate some chunks of text into lists to make your notes easier to read? First, you'll need to ensure each item is on its own line. If it's not, simply click your pointer at the very beginning of the item and press the "Enter" or "Return" key on your keyboard to bring that text to a new line.

Then, highlight all of the content you'd like to turn into a list and click the associated icon:

  • List with bullets for a bulleted list

  • List with numbers for a numbered list

Hyperlink Text

To connect certain text to a URL, highlight it and click the linking chains icon. Then, paste the URL you'd like to link the text to and press the "Enter" or "Return" key on your keyboard to save.

To edit a hyperlink, highlight the linked text. Make any changes you'd like to the URL within the field and press your "Enter" or "Return" key to save.

To remove a hyperlink, click the unlinked chains icon to the right of the entry field.

Clear All Text Formatting

Looking to quickly remove all of the text edits you've applied to your notes? Highlight all of the content you'd like to revert and click the "Tx" icon.

The first click will remove all of the text emphasis edits (i.e., bold, underline, italics, and headings) and hyperlinks. The second click will remove bulleted/numbered lists.

Consistency Across Job Tracker Steps

It's worth to note that, as you progress through different stages or steps within your job tracker, the Notes option remains accessible, no matter what stage you are on—till you close it!

Ensure a consistent practice of updating the notes section at each stage, allowing for a comprehensive and evolving record of your engagement with the job opportunity.

Why Notes Are Important

Keeping detailed notes serves several crucial purposes. It acts as a centralized repository of information, helping you stay organized and informed throughout the job application process.

By documenting interactions, dates, and insights, you create a valuable resource for future reference. This proves beneficial when preparing for interviews, tracking progress, and making informed decisions about your job search strategy.
