Updated over a month ago

Why should I use the Job Tracker Analysis tool?

Throughout your job search and career, you want to make sure you are always receiving fair compensation. However, it can be time-consuming to research and compare salary details across various websites, as well as vetting these sources' credibilities and filtering outdated numbers. This is where our Job Tracker Analysis comes in!

Our tool draws data directly from the real job listings you have bookmarked in your Job Tracker and automatically summarizes the compensation details in your dashboard. At a glance, you'll see the average compensation offered and years of experience typically required for particular roles. These breakdowns can help provide you with more context on the current market for your skill set and capabilities!

Accessing the Job Tracker Analysis

In order to access the Job Tracker Analysis tool, you'll need to have at least 5 bookmarked jobs in your Job Tracker. These roles can be added manually or via our Chrome extension.

Once you've bookmarked at least 5 jobs, you should see a currency icon ($) appear in the left navigation bar of the website. Clicking into this symbol will open your Compensation Agent, where you will find the Job Tracker Analysis tool.

Populating the Compensation Data

Upon opening the Job Tracker Analysis tool, you should see a dashboard created based on the salary data from roles you have saved in your Job Tracker at that point in time.

Bookmarking New Jobs

When you add new jobs to your Job Tracker, be sure to refresh the Job Tracker Analysis page to update the tool with these additional salary details. You'll know the tool is synthesizing the new data when you see the "Enriching job data..." message appear near the top of the page.

After the new numbers have been added, you'll see them reflected in your dashboard components!

Understanding Your Dashboard

Cash Compensation

In your dashboard, you'll see two components titled "Cash Compensation."

The one located near the top of the page details the minimum and maximum cash compensation offered across all of the considered jobs from your Job Tracker. You'll see the number of jobs these numbers are drawn from, as well as the average cash compensation offered within these roles.

The bar chart displays similar details, providing a visual representation of the cash compensation ranges of your saved jobs and how frequently each one is offered.

Years of Experience

Next to "Cash Compensation," you'll see dashboard components titled "Years of Experience."

The one located near the top of the page details the minimum and maximum years of experience required across all of the considered jobs from your Job Tracker. You'll see the number of jobs these numbers are drawn from, as well as the average expected years of experience within these roles.

The bar chart displays similar details, providing a visual representation of the ranges of required years of experience and how frequently each one is expected across your saved jobs.

Years of Experience x Cash Compensation

The remaining dashboard component, titled "Years of Experience x Cash Compensation," is a heat map portraying the relationship between required years of experience and cash compensation offered across your jobs.

You'll see a conclusion drawn from the dataset that details the most commonly offered cash compensation range and the average range of expected years of experience.

Customizing Your Dashboard

By default, the Job Tracker Analysis tool will include all saved jobs with salary details in its initial evaluation. If you'd like to narrow the dataset, you can adjust the dashboard's filter settings or manually select specific jobs for analysis.

Filtering Your Job Data

To access your dashboard's filter settings, click the "Filter" button located near the top of the page. You'll see options for Job Stage, Salary, and Years of Experience.

Job Stage

"Job Stage" allows you to filter your data by the job's status. You'll see the available statuses you can choose from once you click the "Select Job Stage" button. The dropdown menu options will depend on the details you have in your Job Tracker.

You should also see the number of jobs you have saved in a particular job stage, and the dashboard will automatically update to reflect the data associated with your selection.

Lowest Salary

"Lowest Salary" will only display data from roles that meet the minimum salary requirement you select from the dropdown menu. You'll see these changes reflected in the dashboard in real-time.

If you select a salary requirement that your current dataset does not contain, you'll see an empty dashboard.

You also have the option to include data from roles without salary details. "Only jobs with salary" will be toggled on by default, and you can turn this off if you'd like to see the Years of Experience data across all your saved jobs.

Turning off this setting likely won't affect your Cash Compensation sections, as these components require salary data to generate their analyses.

Years of Experience

Similar to Lowest Salary, "Only jobs with YoE" will be toggled on by default. If you'd like to include roles without Years of Experience details in your dashboard, you can turn this setting off.
