Using AI: Bullets

Use our Bullets AI tool to generate and edit bullet points to appropriately showcase your experiences and achievements

Updated over a week ago

NOTE: The Bullets AI tool should be used to build foundational text that you can then customize to best fit your experiences. When generating your bullet points, the AI does its best to conceptualize your experiences and any connected job description.

Since the results are meant to be a starting point, our AI may generate metrics that aren't accurate to you – make sure to read through the generated statements and adjust any details that don't feel right! Only you know the real details of your experiences.

Free Teal members will have 5 credits to use for AI bullet generation, and Teal+ members have unlimited generations.

Head to Your Work Experience Section

Open a resume you'd like to edit and head to your Work Experience section. This is where you'll access the Bullets AI tool!

Improve Existing Bullet Points

Hover over the bullet you'd like to edit and click the wand icon to open our "Improve with AI" tool. You can also access this tool by clicking the pencil icon to edit the bullet, then selecting "Improve with AI."

When you select "Improve with AI," our generator will provide you new bullet options based on that existing text. You will see three options appear!

If you are not satisfied with the generated results, you can click "Regenerate" to view three new options.

After selecting your preferred bullet, click the "Use Bullet" button. You'll see your selected bullet displayed with additional customization options below it.

If you'd like to learn about the different customizations you can make to your bullet, head HERE. Otherwise, click "Save" to add the bullet to your Resume Builder!

Generate New Bullet Points

Open the work experience that you would like to generate new bullet points for and select "Add Bullet." Then, you can either type in your own achievement or click "Write with AI" to help you build a new statement.

You'll see several generation options available with this tool: Automatic, Keywords, Coach Me, Job Description*, and Custom Prompt.

*NOTE: The "Job Description" tab will only appear once you have connected a job to the resume you are working on.

Automatic

By default, "Write with AI" will automatically begin generating bullet point options, similar to what you see when you improve an existing bullet with AI. You'll see three suggestions appear under the Automatic tab related to your role title.

These bullets are meant to be a starting point, and if you're not satisfied with the results, you can click "Regenerate" to view new bullet choices!

Keywords

Clicking the "Keywords" button will present you with a short list of keywords you can incorporate into your bullet. You'll see the option to add your own keywords as well!

NOTE: If you are not matched to a job, the keywords will be drawn from the position title instead of a job listing description.

Job Description

If your resume is matched to a job, you'll see the "Job Description" button appear. This is where you can select a responsibility, requirement, or "nice-to-have" statement from the job description to inform the AI generation.

Coach Me

Need help building your bullet in parts? Use the "Coach Me" function to help you identify a key task you performed and the impact you made with it.

Custom Prompt

If you have specific criteria for your bullets, you can enter a custom AI generation prompt by clicking "Custom Prompt."

After creating your new bullet to your liking with one of these methods, click "Use Bullet," then "Save" to add the achievement to your Resume Builder.

Revert Your Changes

Want to change a setting you selected for your bullet generation? Keywords, Job Description, Coach Me, and Custom Prompt have return buttons that will take you to the previous step before the generation occurred.

Keywords

The "Back" button under the Keywords tab will take you back to the keywords selection menu. Once you've updated your selections, click "Continue" to generate bullets with your new settings.

Job Description

Similar to the Keywords tab, the "Back" button here will present you with the list of statements from the connected job description to choose from. Make your new selection, then click "Continue" to regenerate the bullets.

Coach Me

Since "Coach Me" helps you build a bullet in parts, the "Back" button will return you step-by-step. The first "Back" click takes you to the impact options, and the second shows you the choices for your responsibilities.

Selecting a new responsibility that you completed will generate different impacts related to that achievement. Once you've chosen your new options, click "Continue" to generate the bullets.

Custom Prompt

Instead of a "Back" button, the Custom Prompt tab has a back arrow that will revert the AI generation. You'll see the prompt you initially entered as well.

To generate a bullet with new criteria, type in a different prompt and click the upwards facing arrow button to run the tool.
